Our Exclusive One Day Bird Handling Experience means that it is "Exclusive" to your group and your group only, on the day's session with us. We have accommodated birthday parties, driving instructors, photography groups, company corporate days out and even a stag day! Generally the day follows the format for the one day experience, but as it just your group we will try and cater for any of your requirements.
This Experience gives people the opportunity to handle and fly a number of different species of birds of prey and owls at the centre. After tea/coffee, participants will be given a guided tour of the centre where they will see a large variety of species from the Kestrel to the huge and impressive Himalayan Vulture, and they will also be able to ask the falconer any questions. They will then fly at least 6 birds in the arena at the centre, as we regularly change the birds flown on the Experiences we cannot say exactly which birds they will fly but it tends to be a Kestrel, Harris Hawk, Kite and different species of owls.
After a snack lunch, Participants will be taken out into the local countryside where they will be able to fly and watch a Harris Hawk in its natural woodland habitat. The day culminates back at the centre when Participants will get the chance to fly one of our larger birds: an Eagle.
The day commences at 10.15 with tea/coffee and biscuits and finishes around 4pm. Tea/coffee is provided throughout the day and a snack lunch is included in the cost.
Minimum Age: There is no minimum age restriction as this is a private experience for your group. However, please be aware that due to the size and weight of the birds, this experience may not be suitable for small children. There is also the duration of the experience and the walk in the woodlands (see below) to consider. Participants must be at least 14 years old to fly the Eagle at the end of the day.
Please note the afternoon part of this experience involves a walking to a local woodland, walking through the woods and then back to the Centre, a total distance of around half a mile. Participants and Observers must therefore have a reasonable level of physical fitness and mobility for this part of the Experience.
Any relative or friend wishing to be present for the duration of the experience will be classed as an "observer" for which a charge of £25.00 per person will be made. This will entitle him or her to accompany the participant(s) at all times and includes refreshments and snack lunch. Observers can be paid for on the day of the experience but we need know in advance so that we can arrange the lunches. If you have any special dietary requirements please let us know in advance so that we can accommodate you if possible.
The group size can be up to 6 people, but can be smaller if you wish.
